The Education Media Centre (EMC) is a charity that works to raise standards in education by making research evidence more accessible.
EdCo worked with the Education Media Centre to promote a one-day conference, ‘Teaching children about mental health and wellbeing’. The conference was held in London and aimed at head teachers, SLT members and SENCOs in schools with a pupil intake of 4 to 18 years old.
The government have made it compulsory for schools to teach children about mental health from September 2020 and so the conference gave educators access to solid, well−researched evidence about the best projects and programmes for teaching wellbeing and resilience. The day also featured contributions from high profile speakers including Lord Layard, Co−author of the World Happiness Report.
To promote the event, we utilised the Spirit database to target the appropriate contacts in schools within a 25 miles radius of the venue. Utilising a 4-email campaign which slowly took recipients through the stages of Awareness & Interest (finding out about the event) to Action (signing up) we over-exceeded expectations on both the number of registrants (103) and their calibre.
“Many thanks for all of your work over the last weeks, it has been immensely helpful, and has really brought in the delegates. Not only have we got great overall numbers, we stand at 103, the delegates are of the calibre we could only dream of. Your targeted marketing has worked amazingly well.”Steve Whitley, Chief Strategy Officer. EMC.
